Red & White Oak

Two distinct finishes under one species. Red oak is warm and honey-toned with prominent ray grain that reads as traditional and bold. White oak is cooler – a medium grey-brown with a more refined open grain that suits contemporary and transitional builds.

Both carry the visual weight of real wood without the depth of colour that mahogany or cherry bring. Oak sits in a useful middle ground: more character than maple, less intensity than the darker finishes.

Appearance

Red oak’s grain is the most visually pronounced of the wood options – open, with characteristic ray figuring that makes the grain the dominant design element in the room. White oak’s grain is similarly open but reads as quieter. Red oak’s warm honey tones lean traditional; white oak’s grey-brown undertones are more neutral.

Red oak pairs well with warm accents and earthier palettes. White oak integrates cleanly into almost any colour direction and is the more flexible of the two when a specific palette has not been defined yet.
